I have just now learned of his death so am taking in a lot. For some reason I had been thinking about him lately and searched on-line to see his publications. Now I think I was drawn back to him bc he and my late brother,P, were born the same year and met the same fate.P would turn 60 this week & I will visit his grave;I have just arranged to have my inscription (a peace symbol)on the opposite side of his marker as well. I knew Brian in the 80s when we were both involved in Ohio Sierra Club. I smiled when you said"rides" bc he and I drove from OH to Vail,CO for a nat'l Sierra Club meet in '86 or '87. I think my parents hoped he was gonna be my boyfriend, but I did not feel it was my place to tell them he was gay. We lost touch a few yrs. later. I dropped out of SC,was a key figure in a teachers' strike and P died of AIDS in'90.Greg, I'm glad you found some comfort here also. I remember Brian and P as young, happy, handsome, full of life and laughing, talking of books and politics and enjoying nature and other people. I can only hope for the same in my case. Thank you again.------KCAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7854799610785943780.post-23139392679626773732020-10-18T16:24:20.266-04:002020-10-18T16:24:20.266-04:00Thank you so much for sharing this. Irony really does like screwing with me. ;)

I hope you have much success with your search. Genealogy is both exhilarating and maddening, lol. My advice is to start with your mom or your grandmother and to work your way backwards; look for your grandmother on censuses to find her in her parents' household. That might give you her name. If you know your great-grandfather, also check for probate records for him which would likely mention your great-grandmother. I wish you much luck and happy hunting on your quest!!Mary Stuarthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08193758516376835185noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7854799610785943780.post-29062884887151788862017-11-24T13:07:48.149-05:002017-11-24T13:07:48.149-05:00Wow!!!!! Shannon is just beautiful, and I can see the resemblance! Your Dad and your half-brother, however... wow! Y'all could be twins. LOL. Wishing you the very best with all the ongoing research, and the class. I am starting my own search very soon...
